Stand Out From The Crowd

Why We Stopped Publishing Adsense Ads On Our Sites.

I have been making a full time living from home via the internet for 10 years.

Besides selling my own products - up until recently I was running Google AdSense ads on my 9 sites, [aprox. 6000 pages.] I was getting a healthy monthly check from Google for over 4 years [thank you Google] and then the unimaginable happened – they banned my account for click fraud!

No explanation was given and my appeal was rejected as well. I tried to contact Google by phone etc., but there was no communication entered into. [message on the Australian # for Google answer service states that no communication will be entered into over Adsense account issues. No one from Google responds to posts in the Google blog/Forum posts]

To cut a very long story short – I spent around 2 weeks removing all the Google advertising spaces and editing my sites to get rid of the gaping spaces left by the missing ads.

Then surprise, surprise, The Google AdSense team contacted me requesting I replace all the advertising for them on my sites and to add more ad slots than I had running before.

There was no apology given and no explanation as to why the account had been disabled in the first place, just a welcome back as a Google Publishing Partner.

I told the Google AdSense team that I was not interested in re-establishing a partnership relationship with them.

As far as I was concerned I felt I had not been treated like a partner – partners should be able to communicate with each other when there is a problem – not be accused of click fraud without regress.

Besides I objected to them dictating to me on how many ads I should run on my own sites.

The Google Adsense team had comunicated with me before dissabling my account telling me I should run more ads for them. Did they think by dissabling my account they could shock me into complying with their demands?

Then I got to thinking – I was being paid an average of $2.35 per click on the ads on my sites by Google – so how much were people paying via Google AdWords to have their ads running on my sites?

I did a bit of math and worked out that if I only charged $200 per ad  per year  on index pages and $100 per ad per year on internal pages - By cutting out the middle man [Google AdSense] The Advertiser and myself would be in a win – win situation.

My intention is to only run two ad slots per page; 1 Leaderboard ad at the top 600wide x 120 high text/image and 1 tower ad above the fold at the right 120wide x 600 high text/image.

So if people decided to take both ad slots they would have exclusive advertising on that page for the year.

My sites are not high traffic sites by many people’s standards but all the traffic I get is from real visitors from organic search. These sites are not promoted by click exchanges etc. Instead they have been holding poll position on Google search results consistently for years.

Below is a screenshot taken today 20/02/2011 showing  one of my sites  www.kimbro.net at #1 position in Google search results out of about 367,000,000 competing sites.

I have researched what other sites are charging for advertising of this quality via media buys and the cheapest I have found is around $3 per day or $1095 per year per ad.

So I think you will agree that my introductory offer of $100 per ad [internal pages] to $200 per ad [home pages] per year is a very good deal.
